IFC or Industrial Foundation Classes is a 3D file format, used in the Architecture Engineering Construction (AEC) segment. It’s supported in the major software packages like Revit and AutoCAD by Autodesk, Tekla Structures by Tekla or SmartPlant3D by Intergraph. The main value of the IFC is accordance to the Building Information Modeling requirements. BIM is a concept of design, construction and exploitation of the buildings prescribing creation of the large volume of the digital data around architectural objects. This data may include not only 3D geometry, but tons of information pieces like authors, milestones and deadlines, supplier information and so on. Prior to beginning of the construction, the data base is created. It will include all the information, related to the building. Rhinoceros (typically abbreviated Rhino, or Rhino3D) is a commercial 3D computer graphics and computer-aided design (CAD) application software. Rhinoceros geometry is based on the NURBS mathematical model, which focuses on producing mathematically precise representation of curves and freeform surfaces in computer graphics (as opposed to polygon mesh-based applications).

The Rhinoceros file format (.3DM) is useful for the exchange of NURBS geometry. The Rhino developers started the openNURBS Initiative to provide computer graphics software developers the tools to accurately transfer 3-D geometry between applications. An open-source toolkit, openNURBS includes the 3DM file format specification, documentation, C++ source code libraries and .NET 2.0 assemblies to read and write the file format, on supported platforms (Windows, Windows x64, Mac, and Linux).

How CAD Exchanger is licensed?

For production usage you will need the license key. License key is tied to a certain machine via the host-id or MAC-address. You can easily get your host-id in the 'Information' panel in CAD Exchanger.

How do I activate the license?

The license key is delivered shortly upon payment. To activate the license navigate to 'Information' panel' > 'Activate License', click 'Activate' and choose the received license key in the file dialogue.

What happens if my computer breaks down?

Since CAD Exchanger is tied to the specific hardware if computer breaks down, the license won't be applicable anymore. For your convenience we are open to provide up to one additional license free of charge in case your current license won't be applicable any more.

Do I have to renew the subscription annually?

All production licenses are perpetual, which means that you do not have to keep the subscription active. Active subscription grants you the access to all releases and updates.
