CAD Exchanger has been updated to support import of SOLIDWORKS 2026 and Parasolid v37 files, as well as ACIS R34 text files (.sat), while binary ACIS files remain supported up to version R28. These updates improve compatibility with the latest CAD applications and modeling kernels, helping ensure reliable interoperability across modern engineering workflows.

Improved import of closed shells in STEP

Improved import of closed shells in STEP

Import of SHELL_BASED_SURFACE_MODEL entities in STEP files has been improved to correctly recognize closed shells as solids. Previously, in certain STEP models containing multiple protruding shell elements, underlying closed geometry could also be interpreted as shells instead of solids. This could occur, for example, in models where a solid base plate contains multiple shell-based protrusions.

The updated logic now correctly identifies such closed shells and imports them as solids, improving topology reconstruction and ensuring more accurate interpretation of complex STEP models.

JT support for non-uniform scaling of poly representations

JT support for non-uniform scaling of poly representations

Limited support for non-uniform scaling of poly representations has been added for JT. The new functionality supports simple cases where non-uniform scaling is applied to leaf nodes containing poly representations. Unlike uniform scaling, which applies the same scale factor across all axes, non-uniform scaling allows geometry to be stretched independently along individual axes.

This type of transformation can appear in JT models, where poly representations may use axis-specific scaling to optimize storage or represent transformed geometry. CAD Exchanger now supports such cases for selected poly representations, improving compatibility with models that rely on non-uniform scaling and ensuring more accurate visualization and geometry reconstruction.

Additional format improvements

ACIS

  • Fixed issues with import of files with a non-standard header.

CATIA

  • Fixed an error that occurred while parsing poles of compacted NURBS surfaces, causing geometric problems.

Creo

  • Fixed a crash that occurred during import of invalid PMI elements.

JT

  • Fixed an issue with the import of primitives. Some boxes, pyramids, spheres, and tri-prisms were imported with zero size, and some cylinders were not imported.
  • Fixed a crash that occurred during import of some files with TopoMesh Compressed Rep Data V2.

Parasolid

  • Implemented the import of multiple properties with the same name. They will be imported with numeric suffixes ("_1", "_2", ...).

SOLIDWORKS

  • Fixed a crash that appears while parsing tessellations from SLDASM files.

STEP

  • Fixed an issue with incorrect export of faces defined in a left-handed coordinate system.
  • Fixed an issue where properties of MANIFOLD_SOLID_BREP entities were not imported.

Removal of Intel macOS x86_64 support

Removal of Intel macOS x86_64 support

Support for Intel-based macOS x86_64 packages has been removed from the CAD Exchanger distribution. As Apple continues transitioning the macOS ecosystem to Apple silicon, maintaining separate Intel macOS builds provides decreasing practical value while increasing maintenance and testing complexity.

Starting with this release, CAD Exchanger for macOS is distributed only for Apple silicon (ARM64). We recommend migrating your development and deployment environments to Apple silicon systems to ensure continued access to new features, improvements, and long-term platform support.
