STL

STL (STereoLithography) is a file format native to the stereolithography CAD software. This file format is supported by many other software packages; it is widely used for rapid prototyping, 3D printing and computer-aided manufacturing. STL files describe only the surface geometry of a three-dimensional object without any representation of color, texture or other common CAD model attributes. The STL format specifies both ASCII and binary representations. Binary files are more common, since they are more compact.

B-rep

In solid modeling and computer-aided design, boundary representation—often abbreviated as B-rep or BREP—is a method for representing shapes using the limits. A solid is represented as a collection of connected surface elements, the boundary between solid and non-solid.

Boundary representation of models are composed of two parts: topology and geometry (surfaces, curves and points). The main topological items are: faces, edges and vertices. A face is a bounded portion of a surface; an edge is a bounded piece of a curve and a vertex lies at a point. Other elements are the shell (a set of connected faces), the loop (a circuit of edges bounding a face) and loop-edge links (also known as winged edge links or half-edges) which are used to create the edge circuits. The edges are like the edges of a table, bounding a surface portion.

Compared to the constructive solid geometry (CSG) representation, which uses only primitive objects and Boolean operations to combine them, boundary representation is more flexible and has a much richer operation set. In addition to the Boolean operations, B-rep has extrusion (or sweeping), chamfer, blending, drafting, shelling, tweaking and other operations which make use of these.

How CAD Exchanger is licensed?

For production usage you will need the license key. License key is tied to a certain machine via the host-id or MAC-address. You can easily get your host-id in the 'Information' panel in CAD Exchanger.

How do I activate the license?

The license key is delivered shortly upon payment. To activate the license navigate to 'Information' panel' > 'Activate License', click 'Activate' and choose the received license key in the file dialogue.

What happens if my computer breaks down?

Since CAD Exchanger is tied to the specific hardware if computer breaks down, the license won't be applicable anymore. For your convenience we are open to provide up to one additional license free of charge in case your current license won't be applicable any more.

Do I have to renew the subscription annually?

All production licenses are perpetual, which means that you do not have to keep the subscription active. Active subscription grants you the access to all releases and updates.
