JT

JT (Jupiter Tessellation) is an ISO-standardized 3D data format and is in industry used for product visualization, collaboration, CAD data exchange, and in some also for long-term data retention. It can contain any combination of approximate (faceted) data, boundary representation surfaces (B-Rep), Product and Manufacturing Information (PMI), and Metadata (textual attributes) either exported from the native CAD system or inserted by a product data management (PDM) system.

In 2012 JT received a status of international standard ISO14306.

JT files are used in product lifecycle management (PLM) software programs and their respective CAD solutions, by engineers and other professionals that need to analyze the geometry of complex products. JT extension and associated software is structured so that extremely large numbers of components can be quickly loaded, shaded and manipulated in real-time.

Because all major 3D CAD formats are supported, a JT assembly can contain a mixture of any combination which has led to the term "multi-CAD". As JT is typically implemented as an integral part of a PLM solution, the resulting multi-CAD assembly is managed such that changes to the original CAD product definition files can be automatically synchronized with their associated JT files resulting in a multi-CAD assembly that is always up-to-date.

Fusion 360 is a 3D CAD, CAM, CAE cloud-based platform by Autodesk, which connects the development processes of a product. Solid, Surface, T-Spline and Mesh geometry are supported as well as drawing, rendering and 3D-printed output for design validation and documentation. Fusion 360 runs on Windows, Mac OS and in browsers. It is mostly used by students of manufacturing and design spheres.

It is a collaborative platform where users can access each other’s files which shortens design lifecycle. As the app can run either on PC or on the cloud, it can work both with and without internet connection. Data management is built into Fusion.

Autodesk Fusion has a single model environment in which all unique parts and assemblies can be created. It incorporates both direct and parametric control. In Fusion users can make drafts, prepare designs for 3D printing as prototypes or as final parts. Fusion 360 includes integrated Assembly modelling, Motion studies, Rendering and FEA tools to help users analyse design before making it. As document management is built into the platform, files are automatically backed up to the cloud.
