Learn how to convert glTF to SAT with CAD Exchanger
glTF (derivative short form of GL Transmission Format) is a file format and extension for 3D scenes and models using the JSON standard. It is an API-neutral runtime asset delivery format developed by the Khronos Group 3D Formats Working Group. It was initially intended to be an efficient, interoperable format with minimum file size and runtime processing by apps.
Being called ‘JPEG of 3D’, GLTF is indeed a star of 3D model formats. Standard for many 3D applications and game engines, it is especially prominent as a common publishing format for 3D content tools and as the format of choice for web apps.
A SAT file is a 3D model used in ACIS CAD modeling software by Spatial Corporation.
The format's name stands for Standard ACIS Text, since the content of a SAT file is stored as ASCII text. In ACIS, the same data can also be saved in binary form with SAB extension.
SAT files are used to communicate 3D data across different 3D CAD tools, such as Spatial 3D ACIS Modeler, Autodesk AutoCAD 2017, IMSI TurboCAD Pro 2016, Dassault Systèmes SOLIDWORKS, etc.
Need to work with CAD files in numerous formats? No worries.
From glTF to SAT, CAD Exchanger gets you covered.
A CAD file is an output of a CAD software, containing key information about the designed object: its geometry and topology representation, 3D model hierarchy, metadata, and visual attributes depending on the format of the file.
